Once called Pino di Castelnuovo due to its proximity to the latter, Pino d’Asti has been part of the Monferrato county since the High Middle Ages. A fief owned by the Lords of Cocconato for over three centuries until 1770, thereafter various houses such as the Freylino counts of Pino and Buttigliera, lords of Aramengo, and the Scozia family succeeded, dividing the feudal rights equally among themselves. From the Scozia family, the castle passed by inheritance to the Viani d’Ovrano and finally to the de Rege di Donato.

Places of Interest

The Castle, located on the top of the hill, dates back to the medieval era (13th century) but was completely restored in the seventeenth, eighteenth, and again in the twentieth century, with the collapse of the majestic circular tower and recently plastered.

The Parish Church of Madonna del Carmine, in neo-Gothic style, was erected in 1899 on the site of an ancient church. Next to it stands the elegant baroque bell tower of Vittonian influence, made of brick in the upper part on a base of stone material.
