Riva presso Chieri has around 4,800 inhabitants and is located 22 km from Turin.

It was under the lordship of the Biandrate family as early as 1152. In the following centuries, Riva’s history was closely tied to the municipality of Chieri, which acquired it in 1223. It came under the rule of the House of Savoy in the late 14th century and was later acquired by Count Grosso of Bruzolo. In 1691, it was set on fire by the French, and with the extinction of the Grosso family, it was allocated to Vittorio Emanuele Duke of Aosta in 1785.
