Santena has approximately 10,500 inhabitants and is located 22 km from Turin. It is an ancient settlement, as evidenced by artifacts from the early centuries of the Christian era. It was the subject of a long dispute between the canons of San Salvatore in Turin and the Municipality of Chieri before passing to the House of Savoy in 1351. It endured sackings by the French, as well as plagues and famines, before returning under the rule of the House of Savoy.
